Fernando's Harvey Recovery Fund

Hi everyone! My name is Rangika Fernando and I'm raising money for my parents, Rexie and Pushpa Fernando. Today is the first day after the flooding from hurricane Harvey that we were able to drive out of our neighborhood. Lucky for us, flood waters came into our garage, but did not come into our home. My parents, however, is a different story. They needed to be evacuated by boat after flood waters came into their home 3 days ago. I went to my parents today to help them clean up from the flooding. The pile of furniture and carpet and all of the things that had to be thrown out due to flooding was crazy. It was surreal. Their cars are totaled and bottom floor unusable. Preventing mold now a big concern. We will go over tomorrow to help them clean up some more. After the clean up comes the real challenge, getting everything repaired and replaced. I'm starting a GoFundMe for my parents since they will have incidentals and things that are not covered by their flood insurance. Things that they will need to spend money on:
- Car rental
- Hotels during periods of renovation
- Paying off one of their cars (they are not getting back as much as they owe)
- Meals out because kitchen is unusable
- Laundry because it is unusable
- Fans and blowers
- Cleaning supplies
- Storage unit to store things during renovation
- Movers
- Incidentals
