Female Filmmaker's Short Film

My name is Leah Welch, and I'm an investigative journalist turned filmmaker. For the longest time I was afraid to direct anything because I wasn't sure I could do it. I let this fear dictate my path for decades. I'm sure a lot of you can relate. When I was 39, I watched a Jodie Foster interview where she said, if you want to direct, do it now, now is the right time. So I sold everything I owned and made a feature film with the help of a lovely and dynamite cast and crew. Now that I got my feet wet and have conquered my fear, I want to direct my next project, this time on film.

I have the very talented Gates McFadden attached to play Death in a film that takes place in the 1840s in America and follows the story of the places love and grief take someone.
