Help to feed the children and families in Riviera Maya, Mexico, that are going hungry as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. (Watch our video below.)
The current pandemic has caused economic hardship for those most vulnerable. Even in the US, the richest industrialized country in the world, food instability and insecurity has resulted in miles-long lines of cars at food banks and concerns over the loss of free meals at schools to feed hungry children.
Now, imagine what that same food insecurity and instability is doing to families Mexico where there are no organized food banks or reliable government programs to help feed those in need.
Without the support of dedicated NGO charities providing food packages and soup kitchens to feed the hungry, many in the Riviera Maya area would have nowhere to turn for help in these dire times.
My name is Todd Essick and I have been working with Father Hubert Rainer and a group of dedicated individuals to help feed the hungry in the Riviera Maya, but we need your help.
We need the funds necessary to provide additional food packages in impoverished neighborhoods and to buy food for the soup kitchen run by Father Patrick at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Playa del Carmen.
Our goal is to provide food and meals that will feed several hundred families for the duration of the pandemic. Our mission is to see that no family—no child—goes hungry.
