Feed the forest defenders

There is a battle being fought right now, not only for one ancient and endangered ecosystem but also for each and every one of our collective futures and fundamental rights to clean air, water, and the privilege to not be roasted alive over the coming summers. More importantly it is a fight to "Rematriate" a land stolen and raped by colonial greed and stupidity. It is also a fight to hear the voices of the people who have lived in harmony with this land for countless generations and who are the rightful caretakers of these gifts.

Upon witnessing firsthand the front lines of this battle and its staggering consequences I am filled with admiration and pride for those who sacrifice their "lives" in the outside world and put their bodies directly between the saws and the trees. Now this is a massive movement and every contribution is vital, no one part is more important than the rest. The work being done away from the old growth is just as important as the "front lines", whether that is by confronting the political officials who are selling our futures or by those protesting across the country and sharing this fight on a more public stage. The contributions of those who organize and man the vital posts at "Hive", "R n R", "River", and "Roadside" camps are likewise essential. Without their tireless efforts there would be no possible way for those at "Heli", "Ridge", and other more remote and impermanent camps to function.

The goals of this fundraiser are as simple as they are direct. To raise public awareness and to give donors a very clear and specific outlet to maximize the effectiveness of their dollar. As well as to raise donations for handmade and high quality "back country" food specifically for warriors deep in the woods who must pack light and whose mere daily existence, without the threat of loggers and RCMP action would qualify as a "survival" situation by the average Canadian. Having lived these conditions even briefly made it tremendously clear to me that providing nourishment free of chemical additives, and high in quality ingredients were not only lacking but essential for the future of the fight heading into fall and winter. Bodily and spiritual effects aside, financially the prospect of making large batches of nutritious and delicious food and dehydrating and vacuum packing it by hand far outweigh the price of commercially available products.

To that end, there is a team of talented and driven home chefs and professionals who are represented by this gofundme account. A local (K'ómoks Valley) restaurant has graciously volunteered its space for the preparation and packaging of the meals. Ingredients will be sourced in bulk so that each dollar can be maximized and will be prepared with care and utmost intention. Recipes will be picked not only for high caloric content(fall and winter in the woods is brutal), ease of rehydration, nutritional value, and of course deliciousness.

Any questions, advice, ideas, donations(ingredients in abundance) or help being volunteered is greatly appreciated and can be directed towards this account.
