Fed's Chiropractic Service trips

Hello friends and family!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my page and for having an interest in what I am up to. As many of you know, I am half way through completing my doctorate program at Life Chiropractic College West, just outside of San Francisco. I have become extremely passionate about this profession and have discovered my purpose, which is to serve and help as many people as I can.

At this point in my program, I am entering the clinical component of my education. I will soon begin providing care for the people of the Bay area. Currently, I spend roughly 40 hrs/week in the classroom, learning the science, philosophy, and technique associated with Chiropractic. I spend my free time going to seminars, as well as practicing with peers in order to advance my skill set. That brings me to the reason for creating this page. I have the opportunity to volunteer on two service trips that will allow me to provide care for people from around the world.

This September I will be embarking on a 6-day chiropractic service trip to the South Pacific Islands. We will be spending our days adjusting the beautiful people of Fiji with 30 other chiropractic students and Doctors from around the country. The South Pacific Chiropractic Clinic Abroad (SPCCA) is a club organized by the students of Life Chiropractic College West. Its membership consists of both Doctors of Chiropractic and Chiropractic graduate students. One of the goals of the club is to share chiropractic, and be ambassadors for chiropractic through volunteer mission trips to the south pacific. SPCCA is also about promoting cultural interactions between chiropractors, and the people of the South Pacific, who don't often get exposed to chiropractic care due to a limited presence of chiropractors in the region. We want to help change that. This is the link to the group Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/southpacificchiropractic/?hc_ref=SEARCH

This will be the second time a group of chiropractic students and Doctors go to Fiji. This past spring during the first trip, doctors and students spent the 6 days adjusting and providing care to over 6,000 people, including the President of Fiji. With the help of the Fijian government, the group visited various villages, as well as a school and an orphanage. For a country that has never had chiropractic care, the response was tremendous. The government has since asked our group to return not only to Fiji, but to Western Samoa and Tonga.

In January of 2018, I will join students and doctors (of various health care disciplines) from around the world and travel to India to be part of the Sant Nirankari Mission. This event is held twice a year and draws over 1.5 million people to a temporary medical “city” where various health care practitioners volunteer their time to provide health services to the public. I will be part of the 60,000 volunteers that attend in order to make the event possible.

Why Chiropractic?
Most associate Chiropractic with low back pain and headaches, however the potential of Chiropractic goes well beyond that. Chiropractic is the science, art and philosophy of detecting and removing vertebral subluxations. Subluxations are minor dislocations of spinal bones (vertebra) that cause the nerves exiting the spinal cord to become impinged. When this occurs, the brain is not able to communicate messages from the brain to the body and vice versa. A disconnect of these messages can interfere with heart rate, digestion or breathing. Chiropractic has been proven to decrease blood pressure, help with digestion, and even provide relief for asthma and allergies. If there is an interference in the transmission of these messages, someone will not be able to function at their highest potential, which can impact physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. Chiropractic adjustments restore the brain-body connection in order to facilitate healing and improve nervous system communication.

Why do I need your help? The cost of the two trips will be $5,500 USD and will cover all potential expenses including flights, hotel, meals and transportation. Food and proper hydration is extremely important as we will be seeing a large volume of people in very hot conditions. This also accounts for the 8% commission fee GoFundMe charges, as well as the conversion rate from Canadian to American dollars. The value of this trip is more than just monetary, it will help me provide care for people who may not have access to basic health care needs, as well as provide an amazing growth experience for me as a practitioner.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for taking the time to read and learn what I have been doing. If you feel that it is within you to support this cause, I am grateful to receive your gift. I appreciate your generosity more than I can express with words. Your support inspires me to continue to serve people and drives my passion to continue this journey.

Love and thanks,
