Hello and thanks for taking time to look at (and hopefully donate to) my fundraising page!
First off, this opportunity has been a dream of mine since I was in the third grade... I remember picking Spain out of all the countries we were allowed to research, and I have been falling in love with the country, people, and culture ever since. I went to Marshall University and even got a Spanish degree! Needless to say, this is something I have wanted to do for a LONG time.
I have been accepted into the Teach in Spain: Professional program provided by CIEE.org. Basically, I will be living in Spain for 7 months while working with major Spanish businesses and corporations. I will be teaching corporate English to CEO's and other employees so that they have a better grasp on conversation when doing international business.
CIEE says:
"[You will] Serve as a language teacher in a corporate setting in and around the international city of Madrid. Find yourself working in the multinational-companies of Spain. Not only sharpening your teaching skills, but also networking with some of the largest businesses in Spain. You will give classes in the companies and travel around the city learning how to motivate CEO’s and executives; your lessons will show them that you cannot learn everything about English on TV!"
Here's where I need YOUR help. CIEE is an incredible organization that takes care of all the red tape when dealing with teaching abroad. However, it comes with a fee. Let me break it down:
CIEE application fee - $50
CIEE placement fee - $1650
TEFL certifcation - $1000
Student/Working VISA - $200
Flights to/from Spain - $1500
Apartment Search - $600
Total - $5000
