Hi everyone,
I am raising money to try get a father off the streets temporarily. I mentor a young lady who is a refugee in the UK. Her father was brought over to the UK on a family reunification visa by a London Borough Council, but was not supported on arrival. He arrived in the country in November and has been homeless ever since. I have applied for a Homeless Application on his behalf from Camden Council, however, this takes a while to approve, as they need to prove he is a rough sleeper. An outreach team carries out assessments every morning from 6am - 10am, however, we don't know when they will be able to reach him. Until then he remains on the streets. He is from Eritrea and the cold is not something he is used to. It is freezing now at night and he only has one sleeping bag with him and no proper winter clothing. His well being, physical and mental health is deteriorating. I am trying to raise funds to get him to stay in a private hostel until he can get emergency accommodation provided for by the council. Also, I will be trying to source some winter clothing for him and provide him with hot meals. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
