Farrah's Fight: From Gaza's Rubble to a Doctor's Dream

Donation protected
Imagine this:
You're a top student, on the cusp of achieving your lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. Then, war explodes, shattering everything. This is the harsh reality for Farrah Al-Khozondar, a brilliant young woman from Gaza, Palestine.
Sahem for Development and Human Rights Care received a distress call from Farah, a 2023 high school graduate from Gaza, Palestine. She dreams of becoming a doctor and returning to serve the people. However, the ongoing war in Gaza has shattered her dreams and left her trapped in a cycle of fear and uncertainty.

Introduction:
Farah is the middle daughter in a family consisting of seven individuals. She lives with her parents, 3 brothers and her sister. Her older brother is Amr, who is studying in the field of IT and was unable to graduate due to the war, and who aspires to establish a pioneering company in the field of IT and marketing. As for her older sister, she is Dana, who as soon as she registered for the third year at the university in a major biotechnology, but it was interrupted due to the war. Farah has two brothers in school whose dreams have not yet been fully realized.

Farah Academic Journey:
Farah has always been a dedicated student, excelling in her studies and achieving top grades. In the tenth grade, she became the first student in Gaza to score a perfect 100%. Despite facing challenging circumstances, she managed to raise her high school average to 92.7%, qualifying her to study medicine in Egypt.
Farah now supposed to be on the verge of finishing her first year in human medicine, like every student in the world, but she did not even start it because of the war!

Farrah's a Star:
In the face of adversity, she's always shone. Her childhood life was not limited to studying and playing only.
Farah practiced her hobby of dancing Dabke for more than 5 years from 2017-2021, during which she performed in many festivals and conferences with the Asayel Watan band to preserve the revival of the Palestinian heritage.
She worked as a children’s activist and photographer for the English Language Learning Camp in cooperation with two pioneering projects, Kobe and Madrak, in 2020.
She trained on digital marketing and editing in 2021
Farah continued to volunteer at the Smile of Hope Foundation for 3 years from 2021 to 2023, where she participated in relief campaigns to support cancer patients and filmed and edited videos of activities as required by supporters.
She received training in 21st century skills at the Ma’an Development Center in 2022
Farah invested her talent in writing and speaking by preparing the introduction and delivering it at many community celebrations for international non-profit organizations, including Save the Children and UNRWA in the years 2022 and 2023.
Farah worked as a camp manager for the 2023 National Committee for Summer Camps
During the wars on Gaza since the 2014 war until this moment, Farah helped and continues to help her mother in providing relief to civilians affected by the wars and providing support and assistance to them.
But the war of October 2023 forced Farah to fight for a different kind of victory – just surviving.

Dreams on Hold:
The war in Gaza stole Farrah's chance to study medicine in Egypt.
The war in Gaza has changed everything. Her family's livelihood has been destroyed, and the cost of crossing the border has skyrocketed. They were forced to flee their home several times, leaving everything behind.

But Farrah Refuses to Give Up:
With the determination of a true warrior, and despite the hardships, Farah remains committed to her dream of becoming a doctor. She has already completed an IELTS preparation course to improve her English language skills, and she is eager to begin her medical studies. However, the exorbitant cost of crossing the border stands between her and her dream.

This is Where You Come In:
Imagine the impact you can make. Your donation, however small, can be the bridge between the rubble of Gaza and Farrah's white coat.
