Farewell EightyOne Harrisburg

For over 60 years, arcades have been more than just another entertainment or retail destination. They’re communities. A special place where memories are made and friendships are forged. Within the walls of the arcade, everyone inside is family for that moment in history. Do you remember the random kids you used to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with at Carousel Skate? We walk amongst each other to this day, 30 years later. I find that magical.

In EightyOne, I’ve witnessed these bonds firsthand, and indeed have made dozens of new friendships myself. Heck, EightyOne is responsible for at least one marriage!

I’ve been waiting weeks to share our most exciting news yet. Like a kid waiting for Christmas. That is why the current events are so disappointing.

This weekend was going to be our last in the Harrisburg location. We wanted to go out with a bang, hopefully seeing all the old faces we haven’t seen in awhile. It would be very special to make one more memory within these walls. So it’s very sad for Nat and I to be unable to endorse that.

Therefore the Harrisburg location is permanently closed from today onward.

Thank you so much for supporting us these past 2 years. I’ve been there working every weekend because I love the arcade and I love you all who appreciate what I’m doing. Look for us in Sioux Falls next month — we are wishing for the best regarding the pandemic. I hope to see you all then.
