To our friends and family and anyone who feels led to help us out... this is certainly not easy for us to be putting our need/desire out for everyone to see but here it goes...
We are the Smith clan: Collin, Natascha, Noah (12), Ben (10), and Claire (6). A little over 12 years ago we followed Gods calling to leave Germany and move to the States to start a life of full time ministry. We said goodbye to parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, and friends to embark on our new adventure into a new land not knowing when we would be able to embrace these faces again.
God has done some incredible things over the past 12 years. Looking back we can say with confidence that God has paved every step of our journey from providing for our day-to-day needs, to lovingly caring and nurturing our hearts’ desires. He has given us beautiful friends and a wonderful spiritual family full of amazing brothers and sisters in the heart of Bakersfield. Yet, we are aching and yearning to reconnect with our family in Germany.
Now 12 years and three kids later we are pursuing a family trip to Germany. Our youngest two children have not been able to meet Natascha’s family (mother, brothers, and sister), which is a hard truth to imagine. God has given us a God-sized dream of reuniting with all of them this Summer (2018). A family reunion is not the sole purpose of the trip. We also feel that God wants to reveal Himself to Natascha’s mom and siblings, as they have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. As we are seeking to make Christ the center of our home we can't resist the desire to share this same hope with our family abroad.
This is where you can come alongside us. We are asking first and foremost for you to be in prayer and petition on our behalf. We need family and friends who are like-minded (1 Peter 3:8-9) in our desire to see our loved ones receive a genuine, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
Lastly, our financial need is significant. Airfare alone to Germany is beyond our means and we cannot make a trip happen without God’s provision and your support. We calculated a need of $6,500 just to cover airfare for all 5 of us; plus additional costs for food, travel, and miscellaneous expenses that may arise. We know this is a huge amount, yet we know God has all the resources available and a number will not hinder His mighty plans. Will you come alongside and walk this journey with us? We forever cherish your support.
