Family relocation after divorce

My name is Katy and I’m a recently divorced 43 yr old mom with two teens.

In September I finally got out of a very bad marriage of 13 years where I will be receiving no alimony, child support, retirement, or equity from our home. I was bullied & threatened (he used the kids as leverage in our arguments), just so he could get everything he wanted and he could be comfortable in life.

Since I agreed to his terms, we share custody 50/50, but he only sees them one day every two weeks, choosing instead to live in Mexico with his fiancée while I work and spend all of my free time with the kids. I choose not to take on a second job to pay down expenses because I feel like I would be neglecting them like he is.

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I do not ask for help very easily, if at all. I always figure things out on my own, I always try to help others, and I’m very thrifty. So if I’m struggling and asking for help, it’s very much needed!

With that being said, the money I’m trying to raise would help pay for overdue auto expenses, help pay down debt incurred before the pandemic hit and I was only working part time, rebuild my credit, and help us move out of state once my lease is up in July. As it is, I have nowhere to live after that.

Our goal is to move to the East coast where we can start fresh, removed from the stress of their dad and his lack of interest in them and his continued attempt at control over me, and possibly put a down payment on a home for us. I’d like to see us move forward in a place where we can enjoy the rain more often, maybe raise a few chickens, and eventually get my daughter that Corgi she’s always wanted.
