Family of Chris & Michelle Wheeler
Don protégé

It is with deep gratitude that we reach out to Friends, Family and the community on behalf of the family of Chris and Michelle Wheeler.
After weeks of battling what was thought to be a typical viral infection, Chris was finally admitted to the hospital on September 27th after it became clear that it was much more serious than just a virus.
Many tests have been run and there was still no conclusive answers to the cause of his weakness and shortness of breath. It was a week of some ups and downs until late last week when Chris started taking a much more serious turn for the worse. His oxygen levels dropped significantly to a point where he required assistance from a ventilator to breathe – still without an actual diagnosis. Chris was placed into a medically induced coma and switched from a ventilator to an EMCO machine. An EMCO machine is a life support system that takes your blood, oxygenates it for you outside your body, warms it up and then pumps it back into your body.
Chris was transported by emergency helicopter to Vancouver on Tuesday afternoon for further testing and to be placed on the Lung transplant list – if he becomes a viable candidate. If he is, he will be eligible for the next set of lungs that match his size and blood type.
This has taken a massive toll on his immediate family – both emotionally and financially. Chris and Michelle are the proud parents of 3 wonderful children – 19 year old Faith, 10 year old Olivia and little 1 year old Benjamin . Michelle has been an absolute ROCK throughout this ordeal – all the while still breastfeeding an infant.

It is our desire to be able to help the Wheeler family and to lovingly support Michelle and the kids during this unimaginable time of difficulty. We are humbly asking for whatever amount you can donate. It would be greatly appreciated, and above all, it would mean the world to Faith, Olivia and little Benjamin, who so desperately want their Dad to regain his health. Thank you so much for your thoughts and love at this critical time.
