Family of 8 in need of help. Home is destroyed

Donation protected
Ive started this fundraiser to help a family that is going through extremely hard times right now! They are in need of help!!!! I don’t even know how I can fit this whole story in here but I will do my best!

 The family of 8 is currently living in a camper on their little farm so they can care for their animals and try their best to salvage what is left of their home.

They need to get a roof on their house IMMEDIATELY or else they will loose what's left of their home. They MUST keep it dry. I set an amount of 15k but they need so much more as you can see from the pictures!! The home was not properly sealed and covered. No good tarps to prevent snow and water from entering the home. Needless to say, their entire main floor is water damaged.

 The bylaw officer gave Natacha and Andre permission to work on the house just enough to put a temporary roof on so they can move back in. They are now paying to rent an RV on their property. A family of 8 in an RV in winter!!! Here is their story;

On May 21st 2022, on their sons 6th birthday, the Derecho/tornado storm in Ontario hit their property. It took down their big barn, damaged their livestocks barn and their garage. They lost all their outdoor “stuff” (toys, furniture etc) Their home looked like it had minimal damage with a few shingles flown off the roof. (So they thought) Insurance helped them recover the cost to rebuild the barn, the garage and some of their outdoor belongings. They were to send someone to inspect the roof. They called and emailed to follow up as no one came! In the mean time, with every rain fall, a new leak appeared in their house. They continued to call and email the insurance company. (They are currently dealing with a manager but they still have no idea where this is going, if they will even help!! They have to continu to wait) The family hired a general contractor in September to start fixing the barn, the garage and the house. They were told the job would be completed by December 15th. 2022. The barn is the only (almost) completed project.

 The general contractor did a walk through following the December storm to inspect the damage. He told Andre and Natacha they needed to pack up their 6 kids and leave their home immediately as there was mould everywhere. He said it was extremely dangerous for them to be there. The root of the mould was in the roof/attic. They immediately packed up their 6 kids and spent 2 nights in a hotel. They contacted their insurance company to let them know what was happening. The insurance company sent someone out to take a look at the damage and showed Andre that the roof was caving in from the water damage. The contractor also told them the roof of their home had to be removed to get rid of the root of the mould. He told them it would take 2 weeks to fix, so they rented an Airbnb for 3 weeks just to be safe. The contractor hired people to remove the roof. The family had to extend their stay at the Airbnb for an additional 3 weeks as the job wasn't moving ahead. Over a hundred and fifth thousand dollars later, they received a bylaw notice to stop all work on their property. There were no permits for any of the construction.The general contractor reassured them again and again that he was taking care of this.

Natacha and Andre are now in the process of getting all the permits done. They had to redo a bunch of the work. They have used up all the funds that was received for the barn and garage. They never received anything for the house because it was never part of the claim. (Insurance sent people to inspect but never did anything following the inspections) It’s going to cost them double the fees on top of having to rent this RV to live in in the mean time. They had to rip out all of the drywall, insulation and some of the flooring. They MUST get a roof installed! The general contractor they hired has also been paid in full!! (They weren’t supposed to give him the last payment until the job was completed, but he said he really needed the funds to continue so they paid him)

 Andre is now managing the job and having to hire and pay new companies to fix and repair their home. They’ve drained their savings account. Andre is a business owner and he needs to be able to run his business as it’s their family’s main source of income. Natacha is a homeschool mom who’s had to send her homeschooled children back to school while they deal with this mess. She also works from home, with a cosmetics company and no longer has the space required to work her business efficiently. The funds would go towards helping them pay for material and labour so they can have a home again. They need to get their family out of the trailer and back in their home. It would help cover cost of the RV rental and the increase in the hydro bill and propane. It would help with the cost of the permits as well. !
