Miramichi Family of 7 loses house in fire.

Fred and Pam went camping with their family as was tradition every summer, a long and well-deserved family getaway. When they got a call from their neighbour in the middle of the night advising that their home was in flames. By the time the fire department arrived it was too late. Luckily the firefighters were able to retrieve their deceased daughter (Hilary Bonnell’s) ashes but everything else including the home was lost in the fire.

The family is devastated by this tragedy and to make matters worse, the last time they tried to insure the home their insurance company had advised there was no need to insure a home that was band owned on a native reserve. Unfortunately, their insurance company failed to mention that they could insure the contents in the home.

A typical insurance policy on a home like this would cover between $80,000 to $120,000 in contents.

Fred and Pam are waiting to see what help they can receive from the Band office with regard to the home itself but right now they need any help they can get to replace what was lost in the fire.
