Familias of Juchitan, CP Earthquake
Donation protected
On September 7, 2017, there was an 8.1 scale Earthquake that was felt from Mexico City to Guatemala. The earthquakes epicenter was closest to both the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca, Mexico. Reportedly “Both are two of the most impoverished areas in Mexico and were likely hit the hardest.” Juchitán, Oaxaca, my grandpa’s native town, suffered great losses last week as my remaining family in Juchitán, and many other families have lost their homes and the few things that they owned. Last week my mom and dad asked me if I could ask my friends back home in San Diego for tents they would be open to donating, so we could ship them to Mexico City then have somebody drive them down to Juchitán. However, being a millennial kid, I know the power of the internet could help a lot more. I started this go fund me so that anybody could help no matter where they are. And ANY amount can help. Just think, even one dollar is a lot to somebody who has nothing left. With these funds we plan to provide tents (as temporary shelter because people have been sleeping outside), food, water, and other basic needs for not just my family but as many families we can help to support, as they build a new home to live in and figure out what steps to take next to recover. Although Juchitán is an already impoverished area and most people have never heard of it, there is an amazing Zapotec culture that still thrives and hundreds of families, such as mine who call it home. If donating is not possible for you then simply keeping them in your prayers can help. Thank you.
