Family Support after husband´s death

Dear supporters,

We are launching this appeal to financially support a wonderful colleague who has had to go through such a draining and terrible experience over the last few years.

Cancer is a terrible disease. Even more so when it strikes twice in one family.

Steffi, the name of our Munich colleague, lives with her family in an apartment building together with her mother and brother. About 18 years ago, her father was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Since it was not that aggressive, her dad was able to live with it well for about 14 years - always with ups and downs, but never that bad. Unfortunately, it went downhill from then on and her father fought like a lion, but lost the fight about 3 years ago. Steffi was always by his side, accompanied him to doctor's appointments, supported him during the various chemotherapies, helped her mom with all the matters that came up. Steffi was devastated when her beloved father passed away about 3 years ago.

She always tried to be brave when she came to the office, but you could tell the pain she was in. We dried some tears, but eventually the laughter and joy came back too.

Also because Steffi had the greatest support at her side - her husband Ethem. Together with him she has two small children. One is four-year-old Ali and Lisa, who is six and now starts school.

And then fate struck a second time and the most unbelievable thing happened. Her husband Ethem was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago, also stomach cancer. But a much more aggressive form that attacked the lymph glands and lungs. None of us could really comprehend where Steffi got the strength to be a supporter, fighter and mom for the last 2 years. As tragic as it is, her husband passed away on August 13, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Steffi has therefore worked part-time and her financial situation is more than modest. Now being alone, with two children and the current world situation do not make it all easier.

Therefore, apart from comforting words, strong shoulders and encouraging gestures, we would like to support Steffi financially.

wir starten diesen Aufruf um eine wundervolle Kollegin finanziell zu unterstützen, die in den letzten Jahren so Kräftezehrendes und Furchtbares erleben musste.

Krebs ist eine schreckliche Krankheit. Erst Recht, wenn er doppelt in einer Familie zuschlägt.

Steffi, so der Name unserer Münchener Kollegin, wohnt mit ihrer Familie in einem Mehrfamilienhaus zusammen mit ihrer Mutter und ihrem Bruder. Vor ca. 18 Jahren bekam ihr Vater die Diagnose „Magenkrebs“. Da dieser nicht so aggressiv war konnte ihr Papa ca. 14 Jahre gut damit leben. Zwar immer mit Höhen und Tiefen, aber nie so schlimm. Leider ging es ab da an Bergab und ihr Vater hat gekämpft wie ein Löwe, doch vor ca. 3 Jahren den Kampf verloren. Steffi war immer an seiner Seite, hat ihn begleitet bei Arztterminen, hat ihn bei den verschiedenen Chemos unterstützt, half ihrer Mama bei den ganzen Angelegenheiten die so anfielen. Steffi war am Boden zerstört, als ihr geliebter Vater vor ca. 3 Jahren verstorben ist.

Sie versuchte immer tapfer zu sein, wenn sie ins Büro kam, aber man merkte ihr den Schmerz den sie in der Brust hatte an. Einige Tränen haben wir getrocknet, aber irgendwann kam das Lachen und die Freude auch wieder zurück.

Auch weil Steffi die für sie größte Unterstützung an Ihrer Seite hatte – ihren Mann Ethem. Mit ihm zusammen hat sie zwei kleine Kinder. Zum einen der 4 jährige Ali und Lisa die 6 ist und jetzt in die Schule kommt.

Und dann hat das Schicksal ein 2. Mal zugeschlagen und es ist das Unglaublichste passiert, was passieren kann. Ihr Mann, Ethem, bekam vor 2 Jahren die Diagnose Krebs, ebenfalls Magenkrebs. Allerdings eine viel aggressivere Form, die die Lymphdrüsen und Lunge angegriffen hat.

Niemand von uns konnte wirklich nachvollziehen, woher Steffi die Kraft nahm um die letzten 2 Jahre eine Unterstützerin, Kämpferin und Mama zu sein. So tragisch es ist, ihr Mann ist am 13.August 2022 im Kreise seiner Familie verstorben.

Steffi hat daher in Teilzeit gearbeitet und ihre finanzielle Situation ist mehr als bescheiden. Nun alleine zu sein, mit zwei Kindern und der aktuellen Weltsituation macht es alles nicht leichter.

Daher möchten wir Steffi, abgesehen von tröstenden Worten, starken Schultern und aufmunternden Gesten, finanziell unterstützen.
