Facing my face
Donation protected
Hi all,
For everyone who doesn't know my story, my name is Carly and on the 29th of August, I was injured in a bad car accident. My seatbelt failed on impact with a ditch and I got thrown out of the vehicle which then proceeded to roll over me. Luckily I'm still here to tell the story. I managed to do a number on my body breaking my rib, foot and collar bone alongside 5 other smaller brakes. However, the most damaging break was snapping my pelvis in two places leaving me unable to dance and do the things I love.
Aside from this, I had a fight with a rock and a lot of glass and failed leaving a huge cut across my face. From just under my ear down to my chin i had sliced my face wide open leaving the inside of my mouth open to the elements. I have attached a photo at the bottom of what this looks like but it's not for the faint of hearts. I have had surgery on my face since the accident, I got the stitches taken out in Calgary hospital where they did a beautiful job of stitching me back up and I am able to talk and eat with minor pain.
However, I am left with large red scaring down my face, mainly my chin where the cut was down to the bone and the muscle and skin were sewn together. I have also lost the feeling in the majority of my bottom lip which makes small things like drinking out of a cup difficult. I am trying to raise money for a second surgery to die the colour of the scar a more natural skin shade so it is not as prominent and so can feel more confident in myself, as well as a small lip operation to add some filling to one side of my mouth so I am comfortable drinking out of a glass i public. Self-confidence is something that doesn't come to naturally to me and the extra help of getting my face as normal as possible will make a huge difference.
I do want to thank my family and closest friends who have managed to support me through this and keep me mentally strong and wanting to fight because without them I probably would have been here today. Any donations would mean the world to me so thank you.
The photographs that I have attached below are not the prettiest and I would advise people who are not a fan of blood and gore to stop looking.
