Face Shield fabrication for CMH and beyond

This fundraiser is on behalf of a volunteer collective of makers, engineers, community business leaders, and creatives dedicated to making protective face shields Columbia Memorial Hospital (CMH) as quickly and as effectively as possible to help ensure the welfare of their health care workers and the safety of our community. We have activated a network of 3D printers and other fabricators, libraries, a distillery and other local business in the region to produce face shields.
Our immediate goal is to provide units for Columbia Memorial Health in Hudson, NY which serves all of Columbia and Greene counties. If we are able to meet their needs and can produce more units, we will do so for other hospitals in NY State and beyond.
CMH is projecting a critical shortfall of 1000 face shields in the next three weeks. We are in contact with CMH and they have approved our design. For those curious, our design is based on the Prusa RC3

As time is of the essence, we are not waiting to raise funds before we begin production; members are currently incurring expenses out of pocket or funding with credit. However, costs are piling up, and relief will be welcome.
ALL FUNDS will go to cover expenses incurred in the production of the face shields. Any leftover money will be donated to similar groups manufacturing PPE throughout NY State. None of us will be seeking any reimbursement for labor, etc.
In a chaotic and frightening time, it has been inspiring to watch people quickly organize and figure out what they can do to contribute. While donating money might not feel like a particularly dramatic act, please know that your funds will play a critical role in keeping the healthcare workers in our *immediate community* safe and able to continue working!
