Face shields for Hospitals/Medical Pros

Tax deductible
We are a rapidly growing community of makers, working to provide critical medical supplies to those treating patients with Coronavirus.

After hearing about the shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) from my wife and sister, who both work in the healthcare system, a friend and I brainstormed how we could help. Utilizing the cutting equipment from my small business and my friend’s 3D printers, we decided on producing Josef Prusa’s face shield design and got to work immediately. While we were validating the feasibility separately, we created an open community forum knowing that many other hospitals were also suffering from shortages of PPE, and that many people wanted to help.

Within hours, we had over 800 community makers join our Slack group. Within days, we had over 1300 members.

We have partnered up with a Maker Space in Greenville, SC, along with other businesses and nonprofit organizations to act as a central hub for makers nationwide. They can send in the 3d printed and laser-cut pieces of masks they’ve made to our hub, where we will clean, assemble, package, and distribute them to medical workers in need, all across the country.

Our mission is simple. Get as many face shields as we can, to the hands of healthcare professionals.

For each $20 contributed we can make and ship ~8 face shields for those in need.

WHO WE ARE

Philip Prescott is the CTO of a technology company, as well as a product engineer, and fabricator designing high precision products. With family members working in state health crisis management, he knew he had to help.  After joining the open community, Philip immediately volunteered to cut thousands of shields using his high volume lasers.

Ji Hoon Heo is the CEO of TesBros, a Tesla accessories eCommerce Store. After finding out that his wife and sister's hospitals were short on PPEs, he and his friend, Tyler, started the open community for making these 3D printed face shields.

We would like to manufacture 10,000 face shields.

How will the funds be used?
100% of the funds will go directly towards the 3D printed face shields  We will start by producing face shields based on Josef Prusa's RC3 design. We will use the funds to purchase all materials to make them which includes PETG plastic sheets, filaments for 3D printers, and elastics.

Your donations will not be applied to any administrative fees.
