Hi I am Jacob. I am 29 years old, a sergeant of the Utah Army National Guard, an Iraq Veteran, and a college graduate in Computer Science/Marketing. I graduated last May 2017 but in June 2017 I began to have very low energy levels and severe migraines. I went into the clinic thinking I had a sinus infection. They took my blood pressure and found that it was dangerously high so they sent me to the ER where i spent the next several days being tested.
After an x-ray, catscan, biopsy, and a multiple of other tests it was found out that both my kidneys were not functioning properly in fact they were only functioning at 8%. Over the last 5 months I have had many tests and doctors appointments. I am on dialysis which can cost up to $80k a year. We have not been able to figure out why my kidneys are not functioning only several theories. During this time I have not been able to work as I was too tired to function.
I do have Tricare Insurance which has helped considerably but it has not covered everything and being a graduated student I have no money. Also Tricare Insurance will stop in November when my army enlistment has ended. The main goal the doctors and I have is a kidney transplant which can cost up to $250k money that I do not have. But my first goal while I wait to be put on the kidney transplant wait list is to try and pay my current medical bills before they go to collections and ruin alot of my future and to pay for living expenses such as transportation and rent. Then I will try to figure out a way to pay for a kidney transplant.
