I'm starting this fund for my little brother Josh. After working incredibly hard to save his money and plan for his future, he finally bought his first house, all on his own. He got the keys for his farmhouse (there's a chicken coop in back, that makes it a farm, right??) on Friday, September 22nd. Gathering all of the friends he could, both he and his roommate started to move all of their worldy possessions into his new home. But before they officially moved in, they took the time to paint and refinish the floors. Fast-forward to Tuesday, September 26th...after work, Josh and a few talented friends had put the final coat of stain on the floors, and left for the night as the stain dried. Polyurethane to come the next day.

Arriving at work the next moring, he started to get phone calls from numbers he didn't recognize. After searching them online, and seeing that the calls were from a King County fire investigator, the first thought that ran through his head was that it had to be some kind of joke. He returned the call, and spoke with Thomas Devine, King County Fire & Arson Investigation Unit. "Mr. Daly, I'm sorry to tell you that your house caught fire." He left work immediately and drove to his new home. The fire trucks had already left. The destruction didn't look too bad from the front, but when Mr. Devine walked him around to the back, he finally saw just how bad it was. The word "gutted" doesn't do it justice.

Josh lost nearly everything he owned. His computer loaded with personal photos, most of his clothes (with the exception of a pair of jeans, a few shirts, his gym shorts, and the shoes that were on his feet), all of his furniture, and most heartbreaking...family heirlooms. All of it, gone, in the course of a night.

I'm doing this fundraiser to help Josh not just because he's my brother and I love him, but because I know there are people that have been asking about what they can do to help, and now more than ever, Josh needs it. He's the type of guy that would do anything for anyone in need, and it's time for us to help him out as he tries to rebuild (literally and physically) his life, and his home. Any little bit helps. And it couldn't go to a better guy.

From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
