Radiation and chemotherapy costs

Donation protected

On the morning of 15th September 2014 my Mom, who is now 53 years old, went into a hospital in her home town - Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, to have breast surgery. Before that date, she has had meetings, x-ray scans, blood tests, and other kinds of tests. Two different doctors were 100% sure (one of them said 200% sure) that what she has in her breast was not a tumor (cancer), but something which they would remove and she would be able to go back home the next day.
16th September was the day of her birthday and it was the day which turned all our lives upside down. It was not one, but two tumors, both of them cancer, in her right breast. Her breast was removed the next day. Two days later the pathology report showed that the lymph nodes close to her breast had metastasized and they were also operated on and removed.
What follows now is that we must leave for Turkey to Anadolu Medical Center, where she will be scanned on a PET scanner and all checks will be done again. The day after the checks and tests are done, we will get a protocal for radiation and chemotherapy treatment which she has to start immediately.
Our family is very stressed and shocked because it came so quickly and so unexpectedly, mostly because the doctors were so much sure that it would not be cancer.
There is a good prognosis for my mother’s recovery in Turkey and many women with the same diagnosis have been successfully treated and cured of cancer.
While trying to collect all our strengths and stay positive, our whole family is very frustrated by the lack of money to start the treatment.
We have already started to collect donations from friends, relatives and some companies, but the amount we have to collect to start the treatment is 30 000.00 EUR.This includes the radiation therapy, the chemoteraphy for the first several courses and the expenses for travelling to Turkey, hospital care and medicines purchased. Additionally there will follow a hormone therapy, for which the amount is not known yet.
Bulgaria is one of the poorest countries in Europe. My Mom has no insurance. My brother (27 years old) and myself - Stella - (33 years old) are the people that my Mom and my Father can count on. My father is an artist. For us, that amount is impossible to raise by ourselves.
We have only one week left before we go to Turkey.
I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, who are willing to support us financially and to help us spread the information to as many people as possible, so that my Mom has the chance to get cured and live her life.
She is a beautiful strong lady, willing to fight and wants so much to see her grandchildren grow.
My Mom means the world to me and I am ready to do anything I can to help her.
