Hurricane Idalia ravaged the Big Bend area on August 29th & 30th, and Horseshoe Beach was not spared in this major weather event, with Gov. Ron Desantis declaring it as one of the most heavily hit areas in the region. We (Tyler and Jill Futch, along with our 2 children) live in Horseshoe Beach full time. Within Horseshoe, across the street from our family home is one restaurant, our family-owned restaurant, the Shrimp Boat. The Shrimp Boat is the only restaurant in town, and is loved/visited by many far and wide. During the storm, our appliances, flooring, walls, windows, doors, supplies, and food products were all wiped out or ruined in not only the restaurant, but also in our home, so we are working on two MASSIVE undertakings. Our restaurant feeds everyone from the locals and residents to tourists and holiday-ers and supports the local community every chance we get. Horseshoe and the Shrimp Boat desperately need helping hands and boots on the ground, but if you are able to help monetarily, that would be so immensely appreciated. We appreciate everyone that has been working to rally around this storm stricken community and the members of it helping to open the restaurant back up. Any donations from this fundraiser will go toward the cost of replacing the contents of the restaurant and getting it back up and running, as we are not able to obtain insurance due to being a first floor structure in a coastal community.
