Repairs for Rescue/Sanctuary Kennel

Donation protected
Molly, the Boxer mix was chosen as our campaign picture because she explains what we try to do here at the Canine Connection.   She came to us the end of June this year with the worst case of flea dermatitis I have ever seen.   She was weak, anemic and chewing herself alive.   We are happy to say she is happy, healthy and ready to find her new home.

We are a very small 501(c)3 non profit dog rescue/sanctuary.   We currently have 24 dogs in our sanctuary that range from 8 to 17 years of age.   These dogs all have serious health and/orbehavior issues or are just OLD, that are living out their lives with us as we are a NO KILL rescue/sanctuary.

In 2003, we opened up our home and outbuildings to rescue dogs in need.   To date we have found homes for 747 dogs and approximately 40 cats.

The reason I am reaching out on Gofundme is we have gotten to the point that our facility needs work and all of our funds are tied up in caring for the animals.   Their food, medicine, vet bills, and emergencies take every cent that we have out of our own personal money and the small donations that we receive from those that know who we are and what we do, which leaves nothing left over for necessary repairs and maintenance.

Our pole barn, which houses a quarantine kennel needs a new roof (shingles).   The pole barn actually only has to have half of it done as we did do the other half four years ago; and the roof of our indoor/outdoor kennel runs is starting to rot.   It's a small building, but one that we need to keep up and sound.

The best estimate we have received is set out below.

They are not major jobs, but they are more than we can handle out of pocket.    We need these buildings to continue our work.   When we bring in a new dog, we need a place to safely quarantine them until we have their health issues evaluated and addressed.

Knowing that our facility will be in good condition once again means everything to me.   The animals needs must come first, and unfortunately, that's why the roofs have been ignored.    I know they cannot be ignored any longer.

Our operating expenses are normally around $1500 a month just for food, medicines, and a routine vet visit here and there, which the majority of that coming out of our retirement income.   Some months it can be much higher depending on the medical emergencies we may have, which seem to come in bunches.

Winter hits here in November, so I hope we can raise the funds necessary by October 15, 2016 so I can get this job scheduled.

All donations are tax deductible and very much appreciated!

Thank you for helping make our facility safe and reliable so we can continue with our mission.   God Bless.
