Ev's Chance

Evan is a 26-year-old male, who was diagnosed with Diffuse B-cell Primary Mediastinal Lymphoma (a rare type of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma) in July 2016. Over the past year and a half, Evan has undergone two protocols of intensive chemotherapy (3 months and a 2 week), radiation (20 doses), 4 operations and Stem Cell collection. Despite the best efforts with traditional treatment, his cancer has unfortunately proven to be resistant and is still malignant. This resistance has led to Evan’s current lifespan of just 1-2years.
These turns of events have led Evan and his family to make the decision to use a new/novel treatment, that uses his own immune system to control and stabilise his disease. This new treatment he is taking is called Pembrolizumab (Pembro), with a treatment cycle of 3 weeks per dose. The treatment protocol calls for approximately 6 doses of the drug, however Pembro is unfortunately not covered by medicare/PBS and is at a cost of $5500 per dose. Luckily, some of this has been covered but the Morris family would still have to outlay a huge amount of money, as well as additional living costs whilst Evan is unwell. Evan has already begun his protocol for Pembro on the 23rd of October 2017
Due to the unfortunate toughness of Evan’s Cancer, we are also raising money for Evan and his family for him to complete a bucket list. This bucket list, under Evan’s own initiative will be created by Evan and his family and friends, with the idea of doing a vlog/blog with videos and photos of Evan knocking ideas off the bucket list.
We are calling our fundraiser, ‘Ev’s Chance’ as we are raising funds for Ev’s chance to either beat his cancer and/or to have the chance to cross off his bucket list in his time left.
