Every Child Deserves A Good Quality Of Life

Hello.My name is Dansa.I am from the village of Merti in Isiolo District but currently live in Upstate Newyork.I went to school in Merti and was able to because of the generous help of the Italian missionaries that opened up schools and gave me and several other children a descent meal and a good education.

Those Missionaries are long gone and the schools now closed.I believe it is my turn now to give back and try give the same opportunities i was given to the young ones that need a good quality of life.i cannot do this alone and is why i am asking for help.

Merti is Arid land and most of the people from there are pastrolist.Most people live below a dollar a day.

I am raising funds to try and reopen Burqa ECD and Primary school that closed due to lack of funds to build more classes and get learning materials.

Like i pointed out most of the children in the school mostly come from very low income families and most of the funds towards their education came from individuals within my home church,Merti Evangelical Victory Church.

The church youth supported the children's from nursery school anonymously.As the children advanced to primary school,more people brought their children to the school.Supporting these kids was becoming more difficult as most of the youth that were supporting the children,got married and had more responsibilities of their own.It became almost impossible to keep supporting the kids education let alone build more classes for upper primary.

The kids who started at nursery school advanced to class four but that was the end of classes at the school.The children had to be transfered to the local catholic school.Unfortunately the local catholic school closed too due to some internal disagreements within the parish.

The kids had to move again and go to government school where they have to start over learning.The children went to a christian school that taught Christian education but public schools in Merti teach Islamic Education.Most of the children are sitting for their final exam and have only one year in the public school and having a tough time not only adjusting but preparing for a national exam.

It has been challenging for most of them as they not only have been moved around alot,they are not getting the same level of attention or help they need.Some teachers within the congregation who work for the government school have voluntarily been teaching the children at home in the evenings.Most of time,these children are exhausted and so are the volunteering teachers.

Some of the students have left school completely and are now herding goat and sheep.

The money raised here would hopefully not only revive the school but build more classes and give atleast 200 children a descent meal and a good education and hygiene products for the girls.It will also help give volunteer teachers a small stipend.

The plan is to hit the ground running.There is already building for nursery school upto class four.Start this back up and then start building classes five to eight,as the children start nursery school.The budget is for,
