Everitt Academy Winter Food Bank

Over half the students at The Everitt Academy receive free school meals.  Being part of a coastal economy is always difficult over the winter months, but the impact of COVID-19 is potentially catastrophic. Every time we ask a family to self-isolate with COVID symptoms, we’re essentially asking them to spend 10 days in a cold home with no food.  20% of our students are children in care.  Any period of time away from a free school meal means no access to food at the best of times;  this time of year impacts even more.  Our children won't have traditional Christmas dinner, trees with decorations and no presents filling the space where the tree would be.   As a school some of the donated food will be used to supply our children with a breakfast, snack and drinks but most importantly a home cooked school lunch.

If this surprises you, it probably shouldn’t, because there are very many schools like ours. However, in this particular case you CAN help if you choose to. Please consider donating to our food bank; no donation is too small.  We’re trying to run a full-on, in-house food bank from our school over the winter.
