Everett's Moving Mountains

If you have not met my nephew Everett yet, he is a bit of a ham. Just like his dad. He is the most determined little boy I know. He has moved mountains, but has many more to go…
Everett was born at 27 weeks, weighing just 1 lb, 8 oz. He spent 140 days in the NICU and continued to be on oxygen well past his first birthday. He was diagnosed with PVL (Periventricular leukomalacia), on the lower left lobe, which affects his right side. The PVL diagnosis lead to his Cerebral Palsy diagnosis around his first birthday. Hours and hours of therapy have ensued since then - some good, some bad - as Everett fights to walk and gain better use of his left hand. This little boy is a fighter.
In July, Everett, along with his mom and dad, will travel to Galveston, Texas where he will have SPML surgery - Selective percutaneous myofascial lengthening. This is a minimally invasive surgery utilized to relieve tension from muscle spasticity. It has been used to treat children who have cerebral palsy. It is one more mountain to move….
Since the surgery is out of state, there are issues with insurance and coverage. There are also hotel and travel costs. As Everett’s aunt, Tim’s sister and Monica’s sister in law, I stand on the sidelines and always wish there was something more I can do. Well, this is it… I am reaching out to friends, family, loved ones of Everett’s and asking for financial support towards Everett’s goal to move EVERY mountain. (All funds raised will go toward travel, lodging, rental car and copays for this surgery)
