RETURN TO EVEREST - "GGRIT'ER" DONE!

Donation protected

GOAL:

My name is Meghan Buchanan and I am an Aerospace Engineer, Adventure Athlete and Motivational Speaker.  I've set my sights on becoming the 1st Rocket Scientist to climb the 7 Summits, 5th US WOMAN to complete the EXPLORERS GRAND SLAM (climbing the world’s 7 Summits and last degree ski to the North and South Poles), and eventually 1st US WOMAN to complete the Adventurers Grand Slam. I am no stranger to taking on the impossible and defying odds. Through my experiences, I have focused my energy on overcoming learning disabilities, stereotypes, obstacles, and life-threatening injuries by applying my tools of GGRIT.

GRATITUDE - GROWTH - RESILIENCE - INTEGRITY - TENACITY

GGRIT IS A CHOICE. CHOOSE TO RISE
Dig in, grit it out and get better at dealing with any challenge. I hope to inspire and teach others to apply GGRIT to reach their full potentials.

MY CLIMBS :
RAISE MONEY AND AWARENESS
for individuals with DYSLEXIA and other learning differences (disabilities)! 100% of net proceeds will benefit:

IDA - International Dyslexia Association 501(c)(3)

ABOUT ME:

Facing adversity as early as 7, when my family learned I am dyslexic, I was determined to overcome stereotypes and discrimination to pursue a career as a female engineer with learning differences. As a girl, I found release and acceptance in the outdoors, hiking with my father throughout Colorado. I first summited Kilimanjaro with him in 2005. This was all taken away (2011) in the back bowls of Vail, when I suffered a horrendous, life-threatening snowboarding accident, severely breaking my femur. Told I was lucky to be alive and I would have a cane the rest of my life, I once again had to focus and set my intent. After 2 years of intense physical therapy, a titanium allergy, and surgeries, I persevered to not only climb Kili again, but to take on the 7 summits.

Completed Summits:

1. Kilimanjaro (Africa – 19,300 ft)

2. Aconcagua (South America – 22, 838 ft)

3. Elbrus (Europe – 18,510 ft)

4. Denali (North America – 20,322 ft)

5. Everest - First Attempt - Trip Interruption/cancelation due to Covid-19 pandemic

5. South Pole and Vinson Massif (Antarctica – 16,060 ft) – Dec 21’-Jan 22’

6. Everest Part II (Asia – 29,029 ft) -  SUMMITED 12 May 2022 !!!

Upcoming Expeditions:

7. Carstensz Pyramid (Oceana - 16,024 ft) - Due to Covid, rescheduled for Fall 2022

8. North Pole - Spring 2023

EVEREST SUMMIT COMPLETED:

After numerous Covid related cancellations and 3 years of  training,, I summited Mt Everest on May 12, 2022! I may be one step closer to completing the Grand Slam, BUT I AM NOT DONE raising awareness for Dyslexia and learning disabilities. Contribute today and help inspire others to reach their full potentials!
