Family,  friends and strangers who have been touched by cancer

We have started this fundraiser in an attempt to raise funds for our Mum whose cancer has now spread throughout her body and is need of equipment at home.

This is her story…

Diana Amanoil was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year in February, and it turned our world upside down. She is a mother of four, including a three-year-old girl. Even though we had so much hope and faith in God that Mum was going to heal, we struggled with the fact that she was going to suffer.

She has gone through strong doses of radiation for 5 days a week for almost 8 weeks in an attempt to shrink the cancer. Things were going quite well, and she was tolerating treatment and we were told that the radiation was working. A few months later, additional pain in her neck revealed that the cancer had spread, and she required high doses of chemotherapy for many months.


The chemotherapy was working, and the cancer did shrink. In further months, we were told (very hopefully) that we could stop inpatient chemotherapy rounds and begin Avastin at home. Mum’s hair began to grow back, and we were very hopeful for her future as she began to return to her old self…

Unfortunately, recently our mother has been in severe pain and after many further tests and hospital admissions, we have been told that the cancer has spread throughout her body, and that we will not be able to continue treatment as she is immunocompromised.

She is now struggling to walk and do daily routine activities due to the severity and worsening of her symptoms. As the cancer has spread to her lungs and grown, she is having difficulty breathing without medical assistance and has been hospitalised for almost two weeks now. Earlier this week, we were told the worse news that every family prays they do not have to hear: there is nothing more the doctors can do for her. Radiation will not work for the area in the lung that has been affected, chemotherapy is too strong for her body to tolerate and the immunotherapy options we were offered is now off the tables as her body is too weak.

As a family, we are devastated. We are confused, hurting and we are in a dire situation of having to try anything and everything possible to give our mother more time.

We have started this fundraiser in an attempt to raise funds to source all of the equipment we need to keep her stable when she is released home, and hopefully try alternative treatments/specialists.

Every dollar helps our family in affording medical equipment and supporting our family. If you are unable to donate, we ask kindly that you keep her in your prayers as we know that the next few months will be difficult on our family.
