Evacuate my family from Canada

I relocated my family to Canada for my employer. Our permanent residence application was about halfway through when they laid me off. The PR application, like the work permit, is tied to my former employer. So the thousands of dollars that I've sunk into that PR application is now gone forever.

So far, I haven't been able to find alternative work in Canada as my work permit is tied to my former employer and Canadian immigration moves at a truly glacial pace (2 months to get a new 'labor market impact assessment, another 3 months for a new work permit). So no one wants to hire me here.

We were lead to believe that we'd qualify for 'employment insurance', which turns out not to be the case. It took the Canadian government a month and a half to figure that out. So the only money that we have is whats now in the bank right now. Rents are sky high where we are living. Every month I stay here trying to find work we are running out of money to evacuate.
Right now, my plan is to evacuate my family.

My wife and son and I are from different countries so for us to stay together as a family is going to be very tricky and expensive.

Getting my wife a resident visa in my home country will cost about $2500.
My son will qualify for citizenship and a passport but that will cost about $500.
Airfare to my home country for all of us, one way, will cost about $3500.
Their home country is 3rd world and my son doesn't know the language or culture. Job prospects for me in their country are very limited, so my home country is our best bet.

We need to resolve this situation within 2 months at the outside or we will end up homeless in Canada and deported.
