Help Yasmin's Family Flee the Horror of War in Gaza

Donation protected

Tia , 4 years old, longs for her home deeply, devastated by its destruction in the ongoing war where it was bombed and completely destroyed.

P.S. For those of you wondering, the organizer mentioned in connection with this fundraiser, Josh Park, is a close friend of Yasmin. He is based in the US and has generously offered to assist Yasmin in withdrawing the funds from the platform and then make sure she receives them. This transfer is necessary to proceed with the registration process with the travel agency and cover the associated fees. While GoFundMe is a valuable platform for supporting those in need worldwide, unfortunately, residents of the Middle East like her are unable to withdraw funds unless we possess European or American bank accounts. Thus, Josh's assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Dear compassionate souls,

In the depths of despair, I reach out to you with a heart heavy with the burden of me, Yasmin Jamal and my husband, Monther Ismail, and our beloved children, Taim and Tia from Gaza. Our tale is not just one of tragedy, but of unwavering love, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of the human soul.

At 29 years old, I pour my soul into my work as a freelance translator and writer, while at 30, Monther stands tall as an English teacher at AMIDEAST, dedicating himself to shaping young minds despite the trials of our homeland. Two years ago, we dared to dream amidst the rubble and scarcity of Gaza, saving every penny to secure a home—an oasis of hope amidst the desert of despair.

But hope, it seems, is a fragile thing in the face of war. On that fateful 13th October day, as the world should have been celebrating the birth of our cherished twins, Taim and Tia, the cacophony of conflict shattered their dreams. Instead of laughter and joy, they were met with the deafening roar of explosions, forcing them to flee their home with nothing but the clothes on their backs and the weight of uncertainty on their shoulders.

With heavy hearts, we sought refuge in a crowded shelter in Deir Albalah, our safe haven reduced to ashes. The weight of our loss grows heavier with each passing day. Monther's job vanished alongside our home, leaving us struggling to make ends meet in a land plagued by scarcity and turmoil.

For us, the loss is not just physical but existential. Our home, our sanctuary, our beacon of hope—all gone in an instant, leaving us adrift in a sea of uncertainty. Monther's job vanished alongside their home, and Yasmin's dreams of further education were shattered amidst the rubble of war.

The situation is dire—contaminated water, lack of power, and scarcity of food and medical supplies threaten our very survival. Taim and Tia, innocent children caught in the crossfire, long for the comforts of home and the stability of their kindergarten, now reduced to rubble.

And yet, amidst the darkness, a flicker of hope remains—a chance to rise from the ashes and rebuild our shattered lives. The opportunity to evacuate to safety beckons, but the road ahead is fraught with obstacles. To safely cross the Rafah border and reach Egypt, each adult must pay 5000$ and 2500$ for those who are less than 16. I sincerely hope that this cost does not increase by the time we raise the necessary funds.

Upon arrival in Egypt, we will also need to secure accommodation and purchase essential items to furnish our living space. While our intention is to secure employment and become self-sufficient, it would be immensely helpful if we could cover a few months' rent and living expenses as we process the trauma we have experienced.

Additionally, my family requires immediate access to healthcare for medical check-ups, as months of unhealthy eating habits and exposure to various illnesses in shelters have taken their toll.

Financial Breakdown:

Total Evacuation fees for the travel agency: $15,000
*Taim and Tia, 4 years: $5000
*Yasmin and Monther: $10000

Rent for one year in a safe location: $5,000
Medical Check- ups and living expenses: $5,000

Gofund me fee: one small transaction fee (2.9% + $0.30, which includes debit and credit charges) per donation is deducted.

As I stand before you, dear souls, my heart aches with the weight of their suffering. I implore you to join me in extending a hand of compassion and solidarity to me, Yasmin, Monther, Taim, and Tia. Your generosity, no matter how small, holds the power to transform our despair into hope, our sorrow into joy.

Together, let us be the light that guides this family out of the darkness, the warmth that comforts them amidst the cold embrace of war. Today is the 219 day of the war. Let us rewrite the story, not as victims of tragedy, but as survivors of hope, resilience, and the boundless power of love.
