Bill Schlueter's Medical Expenses

Aloha my husband Bill has been diagnosed with Metastic Squamous Cell Cardoma in Lymph Nodes.

I am requesting your help in raising funds for Bill's medical expenses.  Due to the complexity of this disease we have been told that his best chance of complete recovery is going to a center that specialises in treating his type of cancer.  

After initial testing Bill was accepted for treatment at Cancer Treatment Centers of America - Phoenix campus which was great news!

Unfortunately, living out of State we have added expenses which our insurance does not cover.   Plan  A was to remove the primary tumour which is at the base of his tongue surgically, followed by 7 weeks of daily radiation treatment.  However, after attempting to operate last Monday they found that this was not the case, and a combination of chemotheraphy and radiation would be plan B.

We are now back home in Maui waiting for his teeth guards to be made (these are needed to deflect the radiation he will be receiving), once these are ready he will be going back to Phoenix where they will have a simulation mask made to target where the chemo / radiation will be directed.

This time Bill will be away from home for approximately 8 weeks  during which time he will be staying at a hotel next to the Center. 

We are blessed to have individual family members who have offered to stay with him for the first couple of weeks of treatment to assist him which means that I will be able to stay on Maui and carry on working, I will be going to Phoenix for the second half of this treatment when the radiation will take effect and he will need to be fed via a feeding tube.

Bill  is self employed therefore if he doesnt work he doesnt make money , I have also exhausted my paid time off with having to go to Phoenix for initial consultation and the unsuccesful operation.  
After the initial visit only Bill's plane fare is paid for by our insurance company, I now have to pay my own airfare and we have to pay for the hotel room, meals etc, along with doctor's co-pays and other incidentials.

Bill served his country for 12 years - 2 overseas and 10 with the national guard.  He loves his God and his family with his whole being.  The only thing that matters to me is getting my husband healthy so that he can carry on being such a blessing to so many people.

Making this page  has been a challenge  because I have a hard time reaching out to people for help but so many people have asked if I was going to set up a page that I swallowed my pride and have made one.  As I was reminded recently refusing the help of someone is robbing them of their blessing.
