Hi everyone, my name is Alex and I am fundraising for my top surgery.
Ever since I was younger I have always felt wrong and never felt like I truly fit in. I was always uncomfortable in my body and felt no connection. I came out as transgender to my mum and sister when I was 13 but have wanted this surgery since I was 11. To be honest I feel like I am in constant pain all the time and that I will never truly be happy in my body.
Almost 5 months ago I started testosterone which was an absolute lifesaver. I am so grateful for being able to go private with GenderGp who were able to make it happen as I would of had to wait way longer on the NHS due to a severely transphobic system. I don’t know what I would have done. I want to continue my journey and have top surgery to feel more like my self. I feel like I can’t move forward in my life as I am held back. This surgery would mean the world to me as it would give me a better quality of life and the opportunity to be happy.
I have decided to go with Dr Gallagher in Miami, Florida as I love all her work and her technique. The surgery price is $9990 and I need flights and accommodation on top of this. I am incredibly grateful for anyone reading this as this surgery is my lifeline. I can’t have top surgery done in the uk due to long waiting times and rules around trans healthcare for under 18s (I am 17) which I find incredibly unfair as being trans is not a choice and I am often in pain mentally and physically due to binding.
