Ethans Journey To Australia

Donation protected
Hello all you truckies, truckers, lorry drivers and anyone else out there with a soft spot for brave little boys fighting huge health battles just to survive.

Meet little Ethan Adams - the five year old hero of our story - a little boy who LOVES big trucks and who spent last year fighting for his life.

Twelve months ago, Ethan’s Mum Laura noticed small dark spots on her little boy’s legs. Concerned, she took him to the local A&E who immediately did blood tests. The family were transferred the next day to the main city’s Children’s Hospital.

The young family’s worst nightmare became reality when further testing at Birmingham Children’s Hospital confirmed Ethan had Stage 4 Burkitt’s leukaemia - a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Little Ethan needed intensive chemo immediately. Ethan’s Mum and Dad had to give up their full time jobs - taking turns to be by his side round the clock.

After twenty-six weeks of gruelling chemo, Ethan finally went into remission last December and family and friends pray he will stay by that way. Rigorous invasive monitoring however will become a part of Ethan’s life for many years to come.

Ethan’s Mum says that while the treatment was very hard, Ethan always found a smile and a big thumbs up - despite the devastating impact of chemo on his little body.

Ethan’s love of trucks has touched drivers world-wide and their incredible messages of support not only helped Ethan but the whole family through their difficult journey.

Earlier this year, Women in Trucking Australia Board Director and road-train driver Corrina Riley stumbled across Ethan’s FaceBook page (Ethan’s Journey to Recovery)

There, she discovered this little boy’s all consuming love of big-rigs. Alerting her colleagues to his plight, Ethan’s story spread like wildfire and his page was flooded with pics and clips of Aussie trucks and drivers - all wishing him a speedy recovery and promises of a ride in their big rigs if he came to Australia.

Now Corrina would like to make little Ethan’s dream come true. In March 2023, Women in Trucking Australia will hold its inaugural conference in Adelaide.

The conference will begin with the largest convoy of female heavy vehicle drivers seen in Australia and Corrina has invited Ethan to ride in the lead rig with her!

Now all we need is your help to make this little boy’s dream come true as we look to raise enough to fly Ethan and his Mum and Dad to Australia to see and ride in some of the biggest legal on-road vehicles in the world.

Every donation - large or small will be gratefully received with surplus funds donated to the Brisbane children’s hospital for Ronald McDonald house.

Corrina has raised thousands for Kids with Cancer Foundation Australia ‘over a few years’ in the past and would now love to have you support her with something that’s very close to her heart.

It’s hoped also that we will have a film crew accompany Ethan so we can share his excitement as he discovers all things Trucking in the land down under!!
