Hello my name is Valeria Girardi. In 2010, my mom was diagnosed with one of the rarest cancers in the world,  spindle cell liposarcoma. This kind of cancer gives no warnings or symptoms until it is too late. Luckily, her surgeon at Ny Presbyterian Weill Cornell, were able to save her life than and in 2014 when the cancer returned. The best chance for survival for this kind of cancer is surgery, as no chemo treatments can stop its growth because it not only takes over your body but can take your organs as well. Since the two surgerys the cancer also claimed a kidney and took part of her colon. In January 2017 the cancer returned and we were given the news that an operation could be fatal, and not advised because of its location. In addition the cancer was growing in her lung and in another location.

Up until now mom has been living a normal life despite the fact she has faced so much. About a month ago, her bladder has been compromised because the tumor which is now 80% of her abdomen is pressing on her organs. She was hospitalized, and is now in a rehab facility, but will be released next week. I will be taking care of her, and there is one piece of equipment which would be vital for me to have in order to know when she should be cathered. A bladder scanner. These start at 10000 to buy, but i have researched and found one that can be rented but still at a hefty price per month.

My mom is a positive strong woman who loves life. I want her to stay in her home as long as she can before the cancer proceeds any further . If you look at her she looks wonderful, she is ambulatory, and her spirit and mind are like a 20 year old. I want to give her the best I can offer and i need your support so i can get this piece of medical equipment . I thank you for reading our story and i thank you for your support.
