El Centro is a volunteer-run, radically inclusive "for the community, by the community" space on the lower Westside of Santa Barbara.
We are excited to offer Escuelita, a free 5-week community summer program aimed at empowering our westside children and youth to learn about:
-Decolonization,
-Ethnic, gender and intersectional environmental studies,
-Santa Barbara hxstory,
-Identity development,
-Solidifying connection/ support to community, ect.
Escuelita will run from July 6th to August 4th.
The program will culminate in a mural project led by Gabriel Cardenas at El Centro and a "Decolonize Fiesta" event in August!
We need your support to provide daily meals for our students and to pay stipends to our youth interns.
