Leandres Heart Foundation

This page is being created for Daniel Leandres by his family, friends, and loved ones. We are all in urgent need of help with medical expenses for his extremely costly as well as lengthy stay at Tampa General Hospital. A few weeks ago, Danny succumbed to an invasive form of strep throat that spread to his heart and lungs resulting in myocarditis (an inflammation of the muscles around the heart). The doctors at Tampa General told us that in all their years of cardiac experience, they had never seen a more aggressive case of myocarditis. In fact, Danny went from talking normally to being put on life support in a matter of a few hours!

Since being put on life support, he's already undergone numerous surgeries from cleaning out his lungs to having a heart pump put in (called an LVAD). He finally was weaned off of life support but will now have to lie with the heart pum for about 4-6 months until they put him on a heart transplant waiting list. After he does have a heart transplant, he will need to be on immunosuppressive medicine for the rest of his life so that his body doesn't reject the heart. 

As you can imagine, all of these surgeries and medicine will be an extravagant cost for Danny & our family. We are asking for everyone to dig deep and not just help a family continue to spread the story of Daniel Leandres but support him in this tough time as much as possible.
