Help us save our home!

Donation protected

(We have gotten messages from a few people wanting to help our son have an awesome birthday and Christmas: THANK YOU! We are currently using ALL DONATED FUNDS to continue our SURVIVAL, but if you would like to donate to our Household Holiday Wishlist, it can be found at Target: http://tinyurl.com/oef5npr ). Please ignore some of the registry issues with sizes; our son wears Boy's size Medium.

Update (12/06/15):

GOAL #1- NOVEMBER- YOU DID IT! THANK YOU!
GOAL #2- DECEMBER - IN LIMBO...
(keep checking back for new rewards and incentives!)

November rent is PAID.
November bills are PAID.
November appointments and prescriptions are PAID.
December rent, bills, and doctors are in limbo...

When we originally put this up, looking back and forth between each other and the screen, biting our lips and nails with worry, nervously writing out the painful situation we found ourselves in, we wondered if we even really deserved to have a crowd-funding page.
In the end, we swallowed our pride, realized we had nothing left to lose, and sent out a plea for help - a message in a bottle - and threw it into the sea of the Internet... and hoped.

Before we knew it, you responded, and my wife and I could have (...or may have...) cried with relief.

Now what?

I have been told in no uncertain terms that to return to work is likely to cause permanent injury.

After an MRI to investigate the cause of this pain and numbness and a visit to an orthopedist, we have discovered I have scapulary muscle damage and a compressed nerve.
To make a painful situation even more difficult, I am going to need a nerve conduction study to determine whether or not I need surgery.  This makes it impossible for me to set a return to work date.

Unfortunately, that leaves us in complete financial limbo.
Until I get further testing, and get through my physical therapy, we are still without income, and have no prognosis in sight.

Meanwhile, we have been told that Sabrina is in need of a 4-day inpatient procedure and battery of testing - and no clue how much that will wind up costing by the end, or where it is coming from to begin with.

Dear friends and our local community are doing what they can on an individual level to help us limp along, but the fear and uncertainty are still there.

So, due to the uncertainty surrounding the condition of my injury and how long I may be out of comission, we have updated our goal, and any amount raised will continue to be used to:
1) help myself and my wife get the full medical care we need,
2) to make sure we are actually fully stable in our living situation through the end of the year.

(ORIGINAL FULL STORY)
Hello, and thanks for clicking the link!

First of all, in case you don't already know, my name is Chris Bennett, also known around some parts of the web as ErrantX. I am a full-time IT nerd by day, writer and gamer designer for Dreamscarred Press by... well, any free time I can get, a father to the most amazing little boy on the planet, and the luckiest husband in the world.

On October 15th, my day began with sudden, agonizing pain throughout my left arm and shoulder, with very limited mobility, and numbness in my left hand, with no real indicator of cause or onset. Unfortunately, per doctors orders, this is preventing me from working at my day job in the IT field, as well as writing and designing for Dreamscarred Press. It is amost impossible to find a position to exist in that does not cause searing agony, and sitting at a desk, typing, is probably the worst.

As I am the sole income for our househould, with a chronically ill, disabled wife and a five year old son, my being out of commission is absolutely crippling to my family. We are only a few short weeks away from losing our house... and... honestly, from losing everything.

My wife and I talked very seriously about this, and decided that this cry for help is our very last resort.
We have sold our posessions worth selling, traded our time worth trading, called in what few debts and favors we had... and are left wondering how we are going to explain to our son why he has to go to a different school and leave all his friends behind when we lose the house at the end of the month... right before our son's birthday(12/8) and Christmas.

The purpose of this donation drive is to attempt to avoid that very sad fate.
To secure the funds needed to make sure that the Bennett house is able to pay for the medical expenses that are piling up, to get me healthy and working again!

After an MRI to investigate the cause of this pain and numbness  and a visit to an orthopedist, we have discovered I have scapulary muscle damage and a compressed nerve.
To make a painful situation even more difficult, I am going to need a nerve conduction study to determine whether or not I need surgery.

Additionally, seeing multiple medical speciaists is expensive (as everyone knows), and while I am currently in need of these expensive doctors and tests, heartbreakingly, this is a daily part of life for my wife, Sabrina.
Her medical conditions alone require her to see multiple specialists in a month, and without my ability to work, this becomes impossible and leaves her wracked with disabling pain, non-stop sickness, and crushing fatigue.
Though, despite all of this, she has been my rock and my support over the past months; many times pushing through her own suffering to attempt to relieve mine, proving once again that no matter how bad we get, we take care of each other.
(Which was particularly bad, though appreciated, the weekend of the stomach bug! When it rains, it pours.)

Any and all funds received will be used exclusively to pay for: medical costs directly relating to my injury, diagnosis, and treatment; medical costs related to Sabrina and the doctors, prescriptions, and treatments she needs, and to directly maintaining the roof over our heads, the bills that need paying, and other bare necessities of life.

Please help! Please share! And ask them to share, too! Anything you can do will help get the Bennetts get back on their feet - so I can return to my full-time IT work, and to my passion for creative writing and game design, and so we can take care of ourselves and our young son.

The sooner this money can be raised, the sooner that I can get the tests and treatments I desperately need to return to work and get my finances back on track!

FOR YOUR DONATIONS!:

In return for your generosity,  our publisher, Dreamscarred Press, has said that they will give PDF copies of any books in their library, and print editions (EXCLUDING Ultimate Psionics) of our works in exchange for your donations.

Additionally, the DSP team is willing to take some time with a number of donors and work on some homebrew Pathfinder commissions (such as base classes, disciplines, prestige classes and the like)!

It would mean the world to me and to my family for any help anyone is able to provide and help us get back on our feet. As I am the sole bread-winner in my home, I cannot afford to be sick at all, at any time, and any missed time from employment is disastrous (as I know many of you understand), and I've missed a lot.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much for your time!

Please, donate if you can! Share with all your friends - especially Pathfinder friends! Help us not lose... everything!
