As many of you know our friend and co-worker Ernie Fowler spent just one day shy of a month at Mercy Medical Center from a diabetic foot ulcer and severe septic shock.

As a result of the large ulcer and pinky toe amputation of his left foot he was forced to stay hospitalized to undergo extensive amount of wound care and treatment of the septic shock.

Ernie has now been released from the hospital but is requiring every other day treatment at the hospial and will likely be doing daily hyperbaric oxygen treatments to aid in the healing of his large foot ulcer.

While dealing with being off of work, Ernie has optimized all of his paid leave at work and does not have short term disibility coverage and is currently unable to drive his car due to his wound.   He is being left with little help as he has no family here, but he DOES have a lot of friends and co-workers who want to help!!   Ernie is not the kind of person to ask for help, so as his coworker we are reaching out for help for him!

Anne Frank once said "No one has ever become poor by giving."  If you are unable to give a monetary donation but are able to donate your time by assiting with transporation to/from a wound appointment, helping with entertainment or even helping him run an errand, please contact Ernie for dates he could use help; He is truly humbled by the gesture of a ride to make it to his appointments.

We greatly appreciate everyone for thinking of Ernie and your consideration for your help in any way.  We hope he heals quickly so we can have our fun, sarcastic and hard working friend back soon.  Thanks to you all!
