Ernie Brewis Fundraiser

Ernie Brewis is the original founder of the CISL and has been an active participant in running the league for many years. Ernie is now 84 years old and has been bravely battling bone cancer for the last 6 years. Originally from England, in 1970 he traveled to Mexico to see England in the World cup; he came over the US border and fell in love with the United States. After working his way through the states he landed in Silicon Valley.
His love of soccer soon led him to find the Britannia Arms, also known as the 'Brit'. Ernie was one of the original Bartenders at the Cupertino location The Brit was a place where he could go to watch and play soccer and meet similar minded friends. He quickly became a well known figure where everyone knew his name and loved being around him.
Ernie played for the San Jose Oaks, Where he developed the Ernie shuffle.He became part of the many soccer groups that were formed later, including the over 50's and 60's teams. He refereed games. He even ran the Women's soccer team. He is well known for his sense of humor, kind heart and always ready to help attitude.
Every year, Ernie saved all the proceeds from the CISL red card fund from the soccer games and put it towards the Britannia Arms kids Christmas party. He even donated his time to play Santa Claus many times.
Due to the generosity of some friends he was able to rent a room in their house, but due to circumstances beyond his control, he now has to find a place to live. As of Feb 1st, Ernie is officially homeless. Unfortunately, Ernie has a very limited budget. He has no family here in the US and none left in England. His family are you guys from the Soccer community. Ernie had led a very simple life.
We are asking anyone to donate money to help Ernie secure a rental or even better we would love to get him in a assisted living home so he can live the remainder of his life with dignity, safety and peace of mind. The person that is the beneficiary, John Conway, is a friend of Ernie’s, that will be helping Ernie pay his bills, because he is unable to. "
We appreciate any donation you can make, no matter how small. All monies collected will go directly to housing Ernie and any remaining funds will go towards his funeral expenses which is hopefully far in the future.
