If you are reading this, you likely have a close relationship with Ernest and Cristina Flores and know of their generosity, kindness, and constant desire to assist everybody. Now, in a time of need, we have established this GoFundMe account in hopes of giving back to Ernest and Cristina.
In October of 2017, Ernest was diagnosed with Plasma Cell Leukemia (PCL), a rare form of Multiple Myeloma. PCL is a serious and aggressive illness that requires extensive professional medical care, many rounds of cancer treatment, and vigilant monitoring afterward.
Ernest is a model patient and has responded extremely well to each phase of treatment. We all know that Ernest is a resilient person. This process has proven again that Ernest knows how to bounce back. He has gone through multiple rounds of strong chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and many hospital stays over the last few months, emerging from it with a great attitude and good test results.
Needless to say, resiliency alone is not enough to get Ernest and Cristina through this chapter. Financial resources are also needed as a long medical recovery process begins and family/caretakers assist Ernest along the way.
Although our parents were extremely fortunate to have medical insurance, it is not adequate to cover a mounting list of expenses from utility bills to home repairs to specialized medical expenses. Also, many family members are located thousands of miles from Oregon, thus accumulating significant travel expenses while traveling to and from Oregon. This GoFundMe account will cover the shortfalls Ernest and Cristina have in paying their bills and will cover the expenses of caretakers.
