Erica's Kidney Disease Support Fund

A month ago, I was shocked to find out that I was living with kidney failure at a routine doctor's visit. After lab work was completed, I received a phone call from my doctor, who immediately had me admitted to the ER, where I ended up staying for 9 days. I was then diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease and was told that my kidneys would never work again. Shortly after, I started dialysis through a port in my chest.

This has been an extremely difficult time for my family and I, and I still have a lot of things left to do. My next step is a surgery to put a fistula in my arm and eventually a kidney transplant.

I am a mother of two girls, and I have many more years ahead of me. I am looking for support, so I will be able to have people tested to see if they are a match, as the waiting list for my blood type is 5-8 years. The sooner I can get the transplant, the sooner I will be able to go back to my normal life.

Imagine what it would be like to lose all your income and security in an instant, and now we are struggling to make ends meet.

This is extremely out of my comfort zone to ask strangers, family, and friends for financial help, as I have always been very independent and able to provide for my family.
