Erica’s Transition Fund

Hey, my name is Erica and I’m a 23 year old transgender woman. 

I initially tried to come out as transgender when I was around 13 but this was met mostly with negativity which pushed me to repressing these feelings until I was finally comfortable to address them again last year. I'm finally ready to start my transition into who I want to be which is why I'm asking for funding. Ultimately, I am seeking VFS, FFS, and GRS as major surgeries. I have already started taking hormones and this has helped me feel as if I'm heading in the right direction. So far we've gone private with the purchase of HRT (Hormones) and this is now costing £720 a year. I am also taking part in vocal feminisation lessons which cost around £100 a month. 

For this fundraiser, I am seeking financial help towards anything that will help with my transition. I'm on the waiting list for the UK's Gender Identity Clinic however this can take years for even an initial appointment and then from there can take a few more years before getting any medical treatments. As it stands currently, the UKs political stance on transgender and non-binary people seems to be more harmful than helpful.

One of the main surgeries I will be seeking is "Vocal Feminisation Surgery" with Mr Chadwan Al Yaghchi to raise the pitch of my voice. My voice provides great dysphoria and discomfort and this surgery would really help me live a lot more comfortably within my correct gender identity. The cost of this surgery is around £5000-£6000 and a consultation fee is £225. Both GRS and FFS sit around £15000 each, bringing my total costs up to around £40000 including travel and accommodation.

I won't be able to pay for these surgeries alone which is why I’m seeking assistance. I will be withdrawing all funding into my girlfriends bank account (Brogan Tonge) but every penny will be put towards me and my surgery.
