All Eric requests is that you donate for Nick

Over 20 years ago, I met Eric Hecht at a New Years Eve party.  The night ended with a kiss and we married in 2002!

What first attracted me to Eric was his extreme wit, smile, dimples and his sense of humor.  He was also extremely intelligent, graduated high school and was a Sophomore upon joining UCSB (must have been all those AP classes).  He was kind, good and very friendly and that is what I will remember most.  He was the life of the party.  We shared many years of laughter and fun.  He took me to Italy (my dream) before we had our most precious gift, Nicholas Sebastian Hecht.   This was by far the best gift we were both given.

Eric was 51 when he passed on December 2, 2021.  When Eric  graduated from UCSB, his father passed away on 12/2.  He was very close to his father (looks so much like him) and he would go sailing with him a lot as they had a sailboat.  He loved his mother like no other and was such a great help to her.  He did not wish to leave Nick and I or any of us and I know he loves us greatly.  His last wish was that I set up a page like this for Nick as he worried so much for his future.   A charity for mental illness research would also be a great alternative to a GoFund me because it is something many people do not address for shame or other reasons but I think it effects more people than we will ever know.  Please always remember him smiling and laughing as this was who he is and was.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who have known us and helped us during this very difficult time.  We are still in shock.  I still buy him chocolate bars...the house is very quiet but we are convinced he is finally resting in peace with his dad and my mom and all of his relatives.  Please continue to keep us all in your prayers.  He wanted everyone to know that there was nothing any of us could have done to prevent this unfortunate outcome.  We love you all!

The funeral will be held at St. Timothy's in Laguna Niguel on December 21st @ 10am PST and the burial following at El Toro Memorial Park/Cemetery @12pm for the final blessing.  For those that can not make it to the funeral or memorial, we are hosting a memorial at the O'CConnor Mortuary on December 19th and there will be a live video feed.  More to follow.

This picture was taken at Nick's First Holy Communion and it was a wonderful day with our pastor and family

One thing Eric enjoyed more than anything was sailing and surfing with Nick. He was planning to go on many cruises and wanted to one day have a boat like he had with his dad. Those boat rides meant the world to Eric.

How young we were and yet the last of our friends to marry.

Nick and his little buddy in Hawaii - this was the last trip we took as a family and by far the best because Nick could snorkel with his dad and Ott whom he really liked and we got to stay with them and see parts of the island we did not experience for which was super cool!
