Erase Alief ISD Lunch Debt

For many children, school lunches are the most nutritious meal they'll receive in a day. Currently, 85% of students in the Alief district qualify for free or reduced cost meals. If a child's family is unable to pay for their meal, a debt is accrued. These children are then offered an alternate meal of a cold cheese sandwich and milk, a standard procedure for most districts in the Houston area, until the debt is paid off.
Please join me in helping to ease the burden of these families and ensuring these kids get a full meal each day. It is a small, but meaningful, gift we can offer to our community and local public schools. As a former Alief ISD student, my family also relied on reduced price meals. Many of you reading this may have too, and if not, you probably had a friend you lent money to so they could get something to eat that day. Most of us know, learning is very difficult when you're hungry.
As of February, the entire Alief district lunch debt is $3,759.14. Please help if you can, and if you are unable to donate, that's okay! Just please share!
If we exceed this amount, the remaining balance will go to Crosby ISD. In this district, children with a lunch debt can be cut off from meals, including the alternate meal, until the debt is paid. Their current district debt is close to $1,186. Let's make sure no child goes hungry.
