Go Fund Me

Hey guys, this is Brent and Roger from MenMinistry.org (MM) and HighCountryMinistries.org (HCM). We wanted to reach out to you and let you know we’ve started a Go Fund Me page for some very important needs we have that need support ASAP. Before we let you know the financial needs, below are two compelling examples of how important it is to reach men for Christ. Let’s start by inviting you into the life of someone who never had a father, and the importance of having a dad in the household.

(Brent) Recently, I was sharing with my wife, Stacy, about how much I miss my father and all the memories and love we shared between us. As my eyes filled up with tears, I looked up to see tears in Stacy’s eyes as well, but they were different from mine. You see, Stacy was abandoned at the age of 8 and never knew who her father was until almost 40 years later, only to find out that he’d passed away 10 years prior. Sharing my wonderful memories with her was like emotional waterboarding. My heart ached for her. You see, what children think about God almost always stems from their experience with their earthly father. To Stacy, memories of a father were nonexistent leaving her feeling even more alone, worthless, abandoned, and unloved.

Children should NEVER have to grow up without the love and covering of a father.

Having a father wound doesn’t just come from being abandoned. Abandonment comes in many different ways. Many children, now grown adults, still feel the loss and pain of fathers who were emotionally, verbally, sexually, or physically abusive. Some were alcoholics, some were workaholics, and some were just distant because they feared they weren’t good enough to be a father.

What we know is this: Changed men change men!

I’ve seen over 14,000 men come to Christ through this ministry in just over a decade, and those men are making a difference in their homes and communities. It hasn’t been easy, and the enemy has fought hard to keep that from happening. The current pandemic and other underlying factors, have caused the closing of many churches, and has brought how this ministry has been able to reach them to a near standstill. There is serious combat going on here – we are truly at war against evil.
Is there a solution? Yes! And I’m inviting you to be a huge part seeing men’s lives changed. Right now there are so many hurting families in this nation, and raising up men to raise up healthy families is vital. We need your prayers, and we need your financial support as well as this is a huge undertaking, but so worth it!

(Roger) I’ve had the privilege of leading High Country Ministries (the parent 501c3 organization for both ministries) for many years, and through those years I’ve seen God do AMAZING things in the lives of the fathers and kids who’ve been on our youth hunts. Over the past 17 years, we’ve seen 184 kids harvest 180 Colorado big-game animals. It’s not so much about the harvesting of an animal, but about investing time into these kids lives who’ve lost their father, or never known the love of a father. In the eyes of a child love is spelled, T.I.M.E.

While this is amazing, it doesn’t do justice to guiding a 13 year old boy who had just lost his father 6 weeks earlier. We found a herd of 20+ antelope bedded on the edge of some pine trees. We belly-crawled to 80 yards and began to setup for a slight downhill shot. This young man had tall grass, limbs from trees, and nerves to overcome. In my years of guiding antelope hunters I’ve learned that if a “speed goat” notices you, you’ve only got seconds to get the shot off. The doe antelope that this young man was stalking was a different story. The movement of the young hunter caused the doe to stand up, she was looking STRAIGHT AT US! I didn’t want to rush the young man but I knew that time was quickly running out.

More time expired while he was getting his rifle settled by laying it across his backpack. The doe was still looking at us and other antelope had begun to stand and look in our direction. At some point, you begin to notice that something that “should” be happening wasn’t. Was God up to something? He certainly was!

He was able to harvest that doe, but the incredible aspect was that she watched us for nearly 15 minutes! We had just watched an “Abraham, ram in the thicket” situation. I’ve shared this story MANY times and I’m brought to tears every time by the incredible privilege of watching God work to let this young man be successful. He was standing a little taller by the end of the hunt. Even more amazingly is that we’ve watched these types of situations every single year. The tears of thankfulness, the laughter, the camping, and the blood we smear on the cheeks of our young hunters as a “rite of passage” has created amazing memories for both the father and the kids!

Brent and I have known each other for more than a decade. We’ve chased elk in the Rockies. We’ve experienced amazing challenges in the backcountry that have brought us very close. Through our friendship and hunting experiences, it was a no-brainer for our ministries to join forces. We both have a passion for reaching men for Christ!

So, how can you help?

ROAR IN THE ROCKIES
Last year we held our first men’s retreat in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Due to the pandemic, numbers were low and guys camped out in tents and sleeping bags. The views were amazing and rejuvenating, but rain and cold hampered what we were able to accomplish as there was no warm dry space for the men togather for the teaching segments. We struggled in getting a large tarp up and all of us crowded underneath it, but it definitely hampered our efforts to train the men in attendance.

What do we need?
We are in desperate need of several large wall tents with wood stoves to accommodate more men for the retreats and youth hunts to provide a place where men can stay dry, warm, be encouraged in their walk and trained to go train men!

Prayer
What is the answer to seeing men’s lives changed? First and foremost, we need to pray. This is God’s battle, and we must begin by taking it to the Lord of hosts (that literally means armies!). Would you do battle on this front by praying for this ministry?

Second, though the battle begins with prayer, it also requires time, money, and effort. We are called to minister to men here at MenMinistry.org, and willing to be God’s hands and feet, but we need your financial support to keep up the good fight through helping fund men’s events, youth hunts, discipleship training, internet radio, podcast and video equipment, and additional resources. The enemy wants to destroy the lives of men, but God has another plan. Will you join me in this battle?

As you can imagine, it’s going to take an army of God’s servants who want to see men changed to come alongside this ministry, as its outreach is far exceeding what we’d ever imagined – and that’s a good thing! In order to help this ministry not just survive but thrive in reaching men, I’m asking if you would be willing to make a sacrifice somewhere in your life to come alongside what God is doing – to help raise up and equip men – to engage in battle. We're asking you to spend some time in prayer and ask God if this is something that has Kingdom value – something He wants you to help move forward.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for giving serious consideration to these needs for both prayer and financial support. Changed men change men. Let’s reach the next 14,000 men together, and grow into a million-man army that’s dangerous for good!

With prayer and thanks,

Brent & Roger
