Getting a Forklift for Hello!Bulk

Hello!Bulk is growing...and that means stepping up to the plate in lots of new ways. Sometimes it is quite a puzzle, and we don't always hold all the pieces.
Many of you know we want to begin ordering a number of items in 55 gallon drums. Buying things at that stage in production means avoiding the need to break product down into 55 separate gallon containers, and the drums are easy to find reuse homes for as well!
Why drums?
- avoid the packaging from drums to gallons
- have enough back stock on hand to avoid OOS (out of stocks)
- offer local spas and salons the opportunity to REFILL rather than purchase packaging
- purchase in a container we know has reuse options
The issue here is that we do not currently have a forklift so we are put in the position of either paying an expensive "lift gate fee" on each shipment of drums or asking our warehouse neighbors to remove our shipments for us...something we can't always time right and certainly can't consider a long term solution.
With the addition of our second location in January we are sure to have some added revenue, but until we see the new location up (and running smoothly), we are unable to afford any big purchases...yet this piece of equipment is much needed now.
We are so excited about meeting many needs in this community through our business model (and hope you are too!) but WE NEED YOUR HELP to create a safe, sustainable, receiving process for our drums.
Where would the money go?
$5500 for a used forklift
$500 for taxes, insurance, registration and training
* stretch goal*
...if we hit $8000 we will also purchase an under counter fridge for our new location! This is currently not in our budget, but would allow us to carry bottled items in glass from our local vendors (i.e. custards from Prin-Ya, veggie burgers from Polka Bean, kombucha from Hans and CRU, and more). This would be a really great addition to our space and a HUGE opportunity to support local brands!
