Equest: Rowena Rides for Danii and Diabetes

Please follow the journey of Rowena Dowling, a blind rider with Type 1 Diabetes, accompanied by Harmony the horse, and Lucy the Labrador, in our quest to conquer a series of long distance Trail rides covering 1000 km during 2024.

As a person who is totally blind, Rowena has been unable to independently monitor and manage her diabetes, which resulted in many admissions to hospital with very high or very low blood glucose levels.

Rowena was recently sponsored by the Danii Foundation for a continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump, which for the first time has enabled her to confidently and accurately monitor and manage her diabetes,  resulting in excellent blood glucose control, usually 80% to 100% within normal range.

This reduces the burden of     living  with Diabetes, and gives Rowena the capacity to complete long distance Trailrides to support the Danii Foundation, who sponsor people with T1D to have access to life changing and life-saving technology of continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump.
