ENTIRE LIFE ALL GONE UP IN FLAMES

Donation protected
My Mum and Dad were victims of the bushfire in Woodbury, Yeppoon and have resided on their property for 20 years.  For 72 years they have gathered memories and treasures along the way and always lived a simple life never asking for anything and are very independent.

The may have resided in a liveable shed but it was not just a shed, it was their “HOME”.  Unfortunately they were unable to have the property or contents insured.

On the evening of Saturday 9 November, they lost their home and all its contents along with their shed containing their caravan and other tools and machinery.  The fire was so quick it came over the back of their hill before they realised and only had time to grab their laptop and jump in the car, at which time the shed was already on fire and as they drove down their driveway through fire to escape and watch their whole life go up in flames.  Dad didn’t even have time to grab his wallet.

Our whole family is totally devastated and will do everything in our power to assist them as much as we can and provide the very much needed moral support.  Due to their age, a new start will be very difficult to fund as they are currently having some medical issues which need to be tended to and the small amount of savings they have will get them through for a very short time.

After that, they are feeling quite lost and are finding it difficult to process the major long term effect on their life and livelihood.  Mum and Dad don’t like asking for help but we’ve told them that in their situation, this may be all they have, the gracious hearts of friends and strangers.

They have received generous assistance from the community offering supplies for immediate use for which they are extremely grateful, however, we need to help them somehow to try and rebuild their future.

It is with a very heavy heart that I am doing this on behalf of my family.  We are very humble and certainly don’t like asking for assistance and know there are others in their situation.  These 2 wonderful people are my parents and now aged pensioners who have supported us throughout our life so it’s now our turn to do the best we can to help out.

Any donations no matter how small will all contribute to hopefully giving them just a small glimmer of hope that they can get through this tragic time and rebuild a home.
